I'm Loving...

... that the "Hunger Games" is coming out with a line of nail polish. 

 I can't imagine Katniss Everdeen had manicured nails, but if she did I would want mine to look exactly the same.

... my sixth graders. They could make me laugh for days.  This week I received a letter from one of my boys telling me about his experience as a sixth grader thus far.  One of my favorite highlights from the letter:

 "I have had a longgg journey pre-k to 5th.  Here I am in sixth grade, struggling to make it to seventh grade."

Sorry you've had it so tough in your eleven years, kiddo. Gotta love it.

... my Yellow Roomers.  No one can argue that they are the damned cutest kids in this world. One of my little ones requested I call her "Princess Popsicle" from now on. Because she "loves popsicles and cupcakes and cake," and why not?

...BodyPump80 was just released and is currently in my possession! I finally mastered 79, now I need to memorize 80 to start teaching in January .. woot woot

... that there are only two more days until I return to NJ to see this boy

and that in two days I will officially be in NJ for all of Thanksgiving week.  Now that is something to be thankful for.

... That my first formally observed lesson went oh so well last week! My students were so receptive and I felt really confident :) Woot woot!

"I will be 4. I will be a man."

(Stifling giggles..) Oh wow!

"Yes. Yes, I will be tall but I will be a man but I will still be me."

I'm so happy to here that, little one.

"Yes because I like me I will just be me even if I'm old and big."

I love, love, the three year old perspective on life. Wish we all were so profound.

I'm Loving...

... That the stranger in front of me online at 7/11 paid for my coffee.  What a sweet, simple gesture. It's wonderful to know that genuinely nice people exist in College Park :)  I am definitely planning on passing this one forward very soon. 

... The Terps victory over UMiami this past Monday. I'm also loving their new uniforms and the new hype and spirit that come along with them! 

... That my loverboy got a new house at school, so when I visit, I no longer have to wear flip flops as protection against grimy communal bathroom floors. Makes me want to go visit him that much more!! 

Skyping is the closest I'm getting right now :( 

Who wouldn't want to drive 3.5 hours to go see this handsome face ;) 

... Work at the CYC started up again! It's been a month since summer camp ended and I've been going through early childhood withdrawal.  
Ms. Sass: "Ms AAAA-LEN-SIS. WHERE have you been all this time. HELLL-OO we started like last wa-eeek."


Little Man: "Let me tell ya somethin' Ms. Alensis we're back in da yellow room and dis is da yellow room. Dis is da rock I drawed in my journal. Ok gotta go can I ask ya somethin? Will you be here to-morr-ow?"

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm Loving...

...My sixth graders...more and more each day. I knew I would love student teaching but I didn't expect to actually feel excitement every morning my alarm goes off at 5:51 a.m.

... that Football season is just around the corner! C's first game is Saturday so I'll be driving back to NJ to watch, of course. Can't wait to cheer on my #49 :) And the Terps play Miami on Labor Day and I can.not.wait.  What better way to spend Labor Day Weekend than cheering on your favorite Football teams?!

... My first day back to Group Fitness; I taught Triple C and GTL (Glutes, Thighs, Lower Body) and I know I'm going to be  s o r e  tomorrow! 

... My new big-girl planner. Since high school I've always had a Vera Bradley Agenda to keep me organized and stylish. My friends at home make fun of me, but I don't care.

HOWEVER... This year now that I'm a big-girl Senior and Student Teacher, I felt it was time for me to make a responsible choice and buy a practical planner. My new Five-Star agenda is boring black, but quite functional. I miss my Vera, but today I'm loving my Five-Star. I think that means I'm a grown up.

I was born with out 5 of my adult teeth. Two babies fell out on their own and now I'm just chillin with 3 baby teeth still in this adult mouth of mine. Weird, right? 

My least favorite utensil is a spoon. 

I wish I was fluent in another language. When I was in elementary school I lied to my teachers and told them I did.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm Loving...

...That PGC Public Schools are closed today. Apparently our Rock 'n Rollin Earthquake did enough damage to the internal structure of the buildings to give us a day off. While it was a scary 20 seconds of my life, and while I hope I never have to experience an earthquake again, I am thankful for the day of reprieve! I plan on running this morning, laying out at the pool, and catching up on some reading. Love love love. 

... that post-workout sore my quads are feeling today. Jillie and I did Day 1 of Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred yesterday (followed by a hilly campus jog) and it felt great! Call me crazy but I just love the feeling of soreness - it's a reminder of the hard work you did the day before. 

... the delicious smoothie I had this morning.

-1/2 a frozen banana

-6 oz plain non-fat greek yogurt

- 1/4 cup skim milk

-1 tsp honey

... my sixth graders and my new role at the fabulous Hollywood Elementary School! I'm feeling incredibly mature with my new responsibilities, and although I'm apprehensive about the work load for the remainder of the year, I think I'm more thankful to have been placed in such a great classroom/school.

I'm Loving....

... this beautiful beach day. Perfect weather for bronzing, plus C made a surprise visit to the beach to see me on his short lunch break. The only thing better than being at the beach is being at the beach with a handsome boy! 

... the hot, hot yoga instructor who taught class tonight ;) I can dig a boy who can do a full Scorpion. And who can make me feel like I just went through bootcamp after just an hour and fifteen minutes of yoga. This girl is going to be sorrreee tomorrow! Ohm Ohm Ohm 

... Back-to-School Shopping! I was absolutely giddy coming home from my Target run with a new planner, folder, binder, notebook (all of the above color coordinated of course,) pens, and metallic sharpies. #NerdAlert.

Not to mention, tomorrow is supposed to be a rainy day, so if I can't go to the beach, I'm going to drive myself over to the outlets for some teacher clothes. Woot woot!

... All my new make up! C's momma periodically gets a box full of FREE merchandise from the Loreal factory store, and then I get to pick through and take whatever I want. I didn't walk away with my best goody bag of all time, but pretty darn good. Thanks Mrs. L!

I'm Loving ...

... My return to Hot Yoga Revolution. It's an awesome, awesome Yoga studio that makes you feel at home while giving you the sweatiest workout possible. Returning to HYR confirmed that Power Vinyasa is more my style, I love the variety and freedom of teaching styles, music selections, modifications, and spirituality that come with these classes; bye-bye Bikram. I love that I'm two classes in this week and I already feel a hundred times better :) 

... Babysitting my girls. I used to nanny a family of three girls that lived down the street from me. I started watching them when I was 16, they moved my freshman year of college, and since then I gradually saw less and less of them. Today I got to spend ALL afternoon with them and we had a blast! Love love love. 

... My new fedora. Reasonably priced and super cute with a ton of outfits. Thanks Nordstrom! 

... The small reunion I had with some high school besties at a bbq Katie graciously hosted on Monday. She's been living down the shore all summer and I have barely had a chance to even speak to her let alone hang out with her. Backyard parties with my HS friends are always a good time, and this was no exception. 

...Whoever created this sign. Apparently fantastic flying deer are running wild on the streets of E-town:

... Sitting in the kitchen, hearing my sister laugh from the Family Room. It's the little things :-) 

What I'm Loving Wednesday

I'm loving...

... That I'm feeling relaxed after a mini-vacation with my family in South Carolina. We spent a day in one of my favorite cities of all time, Savannah, sat on the beach, drank a lot, ate a lot, and talked a lot, and played a lot of Pictionary. I wish I could have stayed more than 4 days. 

... having a family with whom I can party, hang out, confide and relax. 

... "Savannah Smiles." A Dualing Piano bar on River Street that is beyond fun. What I'm loving even more was that they appreciated our Jersey roots.  Note the "Phrase of the night" on the picture below. 

... the vintage Coppertone Poster Ad I got antique-ing with Momma. It's got the perfect black ribbon with which to hang the sign in my room.   :) 

 ... that our culminating activity (a Water Party/ Water Tour of the Purple Room) was completed with great success. The kids loved showing off their hard work to their parents and I loved watching the smiles on their little faces and their parents' alike.
